Morning Me Time

Over the past 4 weeks I have altered my morning routine to include a little bit of me time.  Normally I would just let Gypsy out in the back yard and then log into my work computer and start working sometime between 6 and 6:30 in the morning.  Early, I know, but I am a morning person so it works out for me.

Now I get myself dressed, grab some earphones, strap on Gypsy' harness and we go for an early morning walk/jog. I try to change up the path we travel every now and then, making sure not to stay out too long because it heats up pretty quickly.

This is a perfect opportunity for me to get outside of the house every morning which has been harder since I started to work remote.  When you don't have to leave the house, it's easy to just get into a routine of staying inside.  I love using this time to listen to my music and just think about life, goals and plans for the future.

A lone bench we pass

I love that we normally pass the same people every morning with a friendly wave or "hello".  This time has become one of my favorite parts of the day and I like to think Gypsy enjoys herself as well.

Do you have any "me time" during your days?

  1. that's a lovely routine. i used to love to take out the dogs on weekend mornings to off-leash hours in central park. now that we've moved and it's hot as hades, the husband does all the walking! but this reminds me that it was a nice quiet time for me and it would be good to come up with something new. wow, long comment.

  2. I've never taken Gypsy to a dog park, but we just found one in our area and I'm tempted to try it out. She loves being off the leash in the back yard. I hate our afternoon walks because it is so hot after work!

  3. What a great routine! I also find it's hard to get out of the house during the day, since I work at home. I try to plan my errands around lunch time or early afternoon since I'm less productive then, just to make sure I have some kind of interactions with people! I've also discovered that I really enjoy cooking; that's my "thinking" time!

  4. That sounds like a great routine, for both you and gypsy! Its nice and refreshing to have those moments to think by yourself now and then!

  5. I'm the type of person who gets cabin fever within a day so I loved the simplicity of this post. I recently started taking walks with my good friend who lives in the neighborhood and it's been wonderful exercise as well as bonding time.

    1. It's great to be able to exercise and bond at the same time! Sometimes my mom joins us on weekend mornings and it's nice to just talk with her.

    2. I never realized how valuable going on a walk could be for a relationship. We talk about everything and walk for miles and miles.
