Catch Up On The Kindle

It seems like it's been forever that I've posted about my reading goal on my 30 before 30 list.  The reason for the long lull?  Well, sadly I think it was The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

I started it after I finished the Hunger games and for some reason I just wasn't getting into it.  I wasn't excited to read it so days would go by before I would read through another chapter and then put down the kindle again.  I decided to give it a rest for now, hoping to pick it back up later because I really want to read the book before watching the movie.

After I raised the white flag on the Dragon Tattoo, I gave into the guilty pleasure of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy.

Those books were pretty much everything that I expected grammar mistakes and all. Originally I only downloaded the first book, expecting to be done after that one but the little cliff hangers enticed me to download 2 and 3 as well.

Now, it's onto Lauren Kate's Fallen series per suggestion of Amanda over at Love and Renovations

Have you read any good books lately? I need some more suggestions to get to my goal.

  1. I really loved Insurgent and Divergent by Veronica Roth.

  2. I'll agree it did take a little while to get into Girl With Dragon Tattoo, but once you get a little further in, the action dramatically ramps up, and doesn't let up through the second and third books.
I just finished Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and LOOOOOVED it.

  3. Although I love the Outlander series that Allie mentions, its a commitment to read. The middle books (2 & 3 I think?) can get a little slow. Actually among a group of friends who've read all the current ones (7) we each think a different volume is slow. But the overall story is fantastic.

  4. I just recently read Miss Peregrin's Home for Peculiar Children, and it was really good! I'm also currently hooked on John Green books (I've read Waiting for Alaska and An Abundance of Katherines and have The Fault in Our Stars waiting on my Kindle). I heard a lot of hype about him, and the novels I've read so far have lived up to it!

I guess maybe I'm in a young adult book phase based on those suggestions...:-)

  5. Oooh you'll love Fallen! So, so good! Divergent was amazing too, though I haven't read the sequel yet. Annnnd I just read the Maze Runner series too - it was kind of tough to get into at first, but I enjoyed it!

  7. I couldn't get into The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo either. So I just gave up and watched the movie with ST. The movie was really great - Rooney Mara is a superb actress - and ST and I watched it twice already. Its always on cable ;-) I liked Divergent, but it was a bit too teen for me. I haven't read Insurgent yet though. I'm enjoying these zombie-remade books. Right now, I'm reading Zombie Lord of the Flies. Its pretty good so far! It was only $1 :-)

  8. The first half of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is so slow, but if you ever pick it up again, it's so much more exciting in the second two novels.

I haven't read much lately, other than Jenny Lawson's (aka The Bloggess) book. It was really funny though!
